Tyler was born on the 4th of October in the year 2002. Gibbs is the grandson of Joe Gibbs, the retired Washington Redskins head trainer, and owner of Joe Gibbs Racing, as well as the son of Coy Gibbs, a veteran NASCAR racer, and Heather Gibbs, a Charlotte-area realtor.
He is the nephew of late Joe Gibbs Racing co-owner J. D. Gibbs and cousin of famed and former Appalachian State University quarterback Jackson Gibbs and tight end, Miller Gibbs.

He is a full-time NASCAR Xfinity Series driver for Joe Gibbs Racing, operating the No. 54 Toyota Supra. At the age of 13, Gibbs started racing Shifter Karts at GoPro Motorplex in the summer of 2015. JGR announced in January 2021 that Gibbs will make his Xfinity Series debut at the Daytona Road Course 2021, the very first race in a part-time program in which he would drive the No. 54 car.
Gibbs became a full-time driver in the series in 2022, driving the No. 54. Ty Gibbs won his fourth NASCAR Xfinity Series race of the 2021 season at Kansas Speedway on Saturday afternoon. Joe Gibbs Racing’s 11th series success came when the No. 54 driver gained the top in the race and never turned back.
